Whittard reinforces its commitment to proven Epson EPoS technology by upgrading its entire estate to the touchscreen IR-320
Hemel Hempstead, 30 November 2005. Whittard of Chelsea has once again selected retail technology from Epson as part of its EPoS roll-out by choosing another terminal from Epson's Intelligent Register range - the IR-320. Running Win/DSS from JDA Software, Epson's IR-320 has been implemented at the point of sale across the Company's 120 stores to further improve customer service. With an uncompromising attitude towards quality and service, Whittard staff are individually trained to help guide customers and enhance their in-store experience. Epson's fully-integrated and powerful IR-320 supports this process by keeping queues to a minimum, whilst being fast and straightforward to operate.
Having chosen Epson hardware (the IR-310) for its original EPoS implementation in 1999, Epson systems were again Whittard's preference. "The reliability and performance of Epson's hardware had been proven over the last six years so it was the clear choice for us. We have had exceptional operator feedback on the Intelligent Register - with its intuitive touchscreen technology and built-in printer, we had total confidence in the product," commented Kegan Copas, head of business systems.
With a fast Intel processor, enhanced memory capacity and a large, flat touchscreen, Epson's IR-320 holds many benefits for Whittard. Its multimedia capability and on-board sound, for example, make it ideal for training purposes. The Company has also been able to replace its hardcopy internal newsletter with video clips and commentary, distributed to stores via email and downloaded to the Intelligent Registers. Also, being a totally integrated system with built-in magnetic stripe reader and thermal receipt printer, the IR-320 saves on peripheral costs and makes the most of the space at the counter.
