Hereford development complex further enhances quality and service with Epson touchscreen terminals

Hemel Hempstead, 30 April 2003.
Visitors to a continental-style complex in Hereford can benefit from high standards of service thanks to a fast and efficient EPoS solution running on Epson's integrated touchscreen Intelligent Register (IR), which has been installed in all its retail outlets.

The Left Bank Village was completed in 1997, and includes a range of six exclusive shops - a specialist wine shop, delicatessen, bakery, ice cream parlour, coffee shop and gift shop - as well as a restaurant complex, conference centre and luxury hotel. The brainchild of renowned Dutch retailer, Albert Heijn, it's played a pivotal role in the regeneration of the City and transformed an almost forgotten area alongside the River Wye.

To ensure that each visitor enjoys consistently high standards of service in all outlets, each is controlled from a central head office and is equipped with the same EPoS system - NPoS, from Bolton-based Nisyst (Nirvana Intelligent Systems), running on Epson's Intelligent Register.

At the point of sale, the system is much faster and easier to use, thanks to features such as hot keys, which enable staff to process sales more quickly. The NPoS software is able to interface with the organisation's existing accounting systems and enables senior management real time access to the latest sales information, as well as a variety of reporting options.

"We wanted something which looked state of the art and complemented the stylish look in our stores," explained Matt Winstone, the Stock Control Manager for Left Bank Village. "We were already aware of the advantages offered by touchscreen in our restaurant so we were delighted when Nisyst proposed a solution which used the same technology."

"Communication between stores and head office has been significantly enhanced," added Matt, "while the system's greater sophistication and functionality have been reflected in the wider range of promotions we have been able to offer. For example, we give customers a discount on niche products such as our speciality hampers, and the software makes it quick and easy to calculate this. Overall, since we went live with the system at the beginning of the year, our experience has been entirely positive."
