The next Retail Systems Forum is to be held at the Williams
F1 Conference Centre in Oxfordshire on Wednesday 21st April
2004. The popular event, which is free to all retailers, will
focus on how retailers can ensure they obtain the best return
on their investment in in-store technology.
Attendees will
hear how Marks and Spencer, Budgen and the Anglia Regional
Co-operative society have all benefited from the increasing
efficiencies derived from the introduction of new EPoS technology.
There will also be an update on the latest Chip and PIN developments
and a demonstration of an exciting new scanner/scale solution
for the checkout.
As in previous events, this Forum will bring
together leading experts within the industry to give their
views and offer advice. Throughout the day, there will be
presentations on ways that retailers can assess the potential
of in-store technology. For example Lehane Kellet of Paul
Mason Consulting will look at the key factors in presenting
a compelling cost justification study, covering all of the
areas from system strategy and business change through to
system selection.
"Increasingly, retailers are asking
more searching questions before investing in new retail technology,
whether it's something new such as Queue Busting, or a straightforward
EPOS replacement,"said Lehane. "These questions
focus much more on the real business case for the systems,
the return on investment and on the total cost of ownership
over the systems' life. Whether it's RFID or Chip and PIN,
however, identifying the specific ways in which the customer's
experience can be improved should always be a major influencer."
The Retail Systems Forum represents an ideal
opportunity for senior people within the retail and hospitality
sectors, including MDs, FDs, IT Managers and Operations Managers,
to learn from the practical experiences of others within the
industry. It also offers a chance to obtain information and
advice from hardware manufacturers such as Metrologic, Cash
Bases and Epson, as well as technical experts and IT solution
providers including Matra, Arciris, STS and Box Technologies.
