Epson’s next generation touchscreen EPoS system, the IR-700 and TM-P60 mobile printer, receive product design award at Germany’s prestigious iF Awards

Hemel Hempstead, 23 January 2006. Two products from Epson's advanced retail technology range have been named winners at the globally renowned IF Awards. Competing in the 'Computer' category, Epson's latest addition to its touchscreen Intelligent Register range - the IR-700, and its unique mobile thermal printer - the TM-P60, have been awarded the iF Product Design Award 2006, regarded as one of the World's key design prizes which recognises innovative yet functional technology.

Awarded annually since 1954, 1,952 products from 37 countries vie for the much acclaimed prize which is an enduring, prestigious trademark for outstanding design. The main criterion for the award is design, ergonomics and quality. "We are delighted to have this award for, not one, but two of our latest innovations," said Raj Parmar, marketing manager at Epson's Retail Technology Division. "At Epson we constantly strive to develop products which combine the high-levels of functionality which the market demands with contemporary and modern design. This important accolade endorses this approach."

The smallest fully-integrated EPoS system in its class, Epson's IR-700 provides a high-performance, easy-to-use, all-in-one solution for enhanced efficiency at the point of service in retail and hospitality environments. The IR-700 impressed the jury with its maximum functionality, minimum footprint, and contemporary and compact styling. In addition, it was the unlimited potential applications of Epson's TM-P60 - a fully portable, thermal printer - which caught the eye of the panel. With an eight hour battery, the lightweight yet robust TM-P60 is available in Wifi and Bluetooth versions. It offers, for example, receipt, coupon and ticket printing in retail and hospitality, and data and barcode printing in warehouse and logistic environments.

Epson's IR-700 and TM-P60, along with the other winning products, will feature in a seven-month-long exhibition at the Hannover Exhibition Centre beginning in March, while the award ceremony will take place on the 9th March at CeBIT.
