Pharmacy chain to benefit from enhanced speed, print quality
and functionality of TM-H6000II receipt and cheque printer
Hemel Hempstead, 15 August
2002. Lloydspharmacy is installing Epson TM-H6000II
point of sale printers as a key element in a new EPoS solution,
currently being rolled out to its 1,300 high street and health
centre stores in the UK. Part of the Pan-European Gehe Group,
the highly successful company selected the versatile printers
to deliver faster printing, enhanced print quality and the
opportunity to include high resolution graphics and promotional
messages on its receipts.
The high-speed TM-H6000II printers, which
have been installed in 250 Lloyds pharmacies so far, complement
NSB’s ‘ObjectPoS’ software, while their
wide-slip capability, enables Lloydspharmacy to print other
important documents at the till, such as customer account
statements.
“Our existing EPoS system used dot
matrix till printers,” explained Roy Maddison, Head
of Systems Delivery at Lloydspharmacy. “We envisaged
that till receipts for the new system would be longer because
we proposed to include promotional or marketing messages.
As a result, dot matrix printers would be too slow. Additionally,
they wouldn’t give us the flexibility to introduce new
features, including high-resolution graphics such as the Lloydspharmacy
logo or barcodes. We therefore decided to invest in Epson
TM-H6000II thermal printers to ensure the speed, print quality
and the potential for future enhancements.
“With the Epson TM-H6000II, printing
receipts and credit/debit slips take a couple of seconds at
the most, while routine procedures such as replacing till
roll, are also extremely quick and easy. As a result, customer
waiting times have been significantly reduced. Overall, in
terms of cost and performance, the Epson printer has already
been an excellent investment.”
Lloydspharmacy’s new EPoS solution,
with integrated EFT, is part of the company’s ongoing
programme of investment in its IT systems, including handheld
devices for improved inventory management, an enhanced communications
network and validation software, enabling the company to tighten
its security procedures. Each store is polled nightly by Lloyds’
Coventry Head Office, in order to provide management with
high-quality information on which to base decisions.
