Epson expands the potential applications for its touchscreen
Intelligent Register (IR) after receiving accreditation from
the National Weights and Measures Laboratory

In a development which will be of particular interest to retailers
in the grocery and convenience sectors, Epson's Intelligent
Register (IR) terminal can now be connected to weighing scales
to process sales involving loose quantities of food.
After testing by the National Weights and
Measures Laboratory, Epson's powerful flagship terminal was
found to meet the European standards required and can now
be used in combination with any similarly certified weighing
hardware and EPoS software.
Equipped with a fast Intel processor,
an intuitive touchscreen interface, an integrated thermal
printer and Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR), the IR already represents
a fast transaction processing solution at the point of sale,
helping to keep queues to a minimum. Now retailers will be
able to take advantage of its excellent peripheral connectivity
ensuring transactions involving loose produce can be handled
with the same efficiency.
