Epson's world renowned TM-T88's "reliability, quiet operation and compact design" are key

Hemel Hempstead, 14 June 2007. Dollond & Aitchison, the most established provider of professional eye tests and dispensing services in the UK , has selected Epson’s TM-T88 printer series for its points of service. Across its 370 branches, Epson’s fast, user-friendly thermal printers have replaced D&A’s previous dot matrix models, providing the reliability and flexibility the company requires.

“We wanted to replace our old printers with the latest technology and trouble-free integration was also vital. Reliability, quiet operation and space-efficiency were key factors in our selection process,” commented Malcolm Mole, IT Project Manager at D&A.

With Fujitsu, D&A’s integration partner, the company evaluated a number of receipt printers and decided on Epson’s compact TM-T88 series. Producing receipts at a rate of up to 200mm per second, they enable staff to provide a fast, efficient service at the PoS. In addition, the TM-T88’s easy-to-use features such as drop-in paper load, means that “changing a receipt roll takes just seconds”, according to Mole.

“The Epson printers are quieter and less costly to operate compared to our previous dot matrix printers. Now, noise in-branch is kept to a minimum while transaction speeds have increased,” added Mole.

After seeing how the new printers have helped further streamline customer service, D&A is planning further changes for the future. “We are continuing to develop our in-branch EPoS with best-of-breed technology to support both our staff and customers,” concluded Mole. “We know we can rely on Epson technology to help us enhance our business in the future.”
