Hemel Hempstead, 10 February 2003. The latest version of the highly regarded touchscreen Intelligent Register (IR) is now available from Epson. Powered by a high-performance Intel processor, the integrated IR-320 is the ideal platform for today's advanced EPoS software. The versatile terminal also offers a wide range of interface options to support additional peripherals, when required.

Featuring a faster 1.2 Ghz Intel processor, 40GB Hard Disk Drive and increased memory (up to 512MB), the IR-320 is more than capable of supporting the next generation of point of sale applications, including Chip and PIN. A highly flexible solution, the IR uses the latest technology interface protocols, including Ethernet, wireless LAN 802.llb and USB to maximise the retailer's options at the point of sale.

Central to the IR's appeal is its intuitive touchscreen interface, which is ideal for even inexperienced operators as the easy drop-down colour menus help to eliminate inputting errors. The enhanced IR-320 is equipped with a 10.4" or 12.1" SVGA wide-angle LCD touch panel. A high-resolution XGA version of the 12.1" LCD touch panel is also available to enable enhanced graphics to be displayed at 1024 x 768 resolution with 16 million colours.

Equipped with a built-in sound capability the IR is available with a range of peripheral options including an Epson DM-D customer display, a three track Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR), Chip and PIN customer terminal, 28-key keyboard and a range of fast PoS printers. The terminal's compact, space-saving design and built-in cable management also ensures there is ample room for Point of Purchase displays.
