Historically, men's high street fashion has lagged somewhat behind women's, particularly when it came to finding stylish casual clothes - over and above the ubiquitous denim jeans.

In Denmark, men are more fortunate as they have long been able to rely on one of their country's largeSst and best-known menswear chains, Tøjeksperten, to find clothes which are fashionable, well-made and reasonably priced. Established in Copenhagen in 1968, Tøjeksperten now has 150 stores in Denmark, as well as Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

To further enhance its position, Tøjeksperten has recently invested in touchscreen Intelligent Registers (IRs) as part of a new EPoS solution running Chess Retail software from retail management specialists, Detail Data Danmark. The retailer was particularly impressed by the IR's stylish design, its reliability and its wide range of interface options which ensure the company has the flexibility to take advantage of future opportunities.

"We are delighted with the new Point-of-Sale system," said Kurt Christensen from Tøjeksperten's headquarters. "The IR's integrated design - with a built-in Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR) and fast thermal printer - and advanced cable management means we have eliminated the cabling spaghetti usually found at the back of the EPoS unit. More importantly, we have also reaped the benefits of migrating to a touchscreen solution, as the system is extremely easy to operate."

The point of sale software has been seamlessly integrated with a central management system for logistics and administration, also supplied by Detail Data Danmark, supported by distributor, PC PoS Nordic. The solution even includes a module which enables Tøjeksperten stores to produce promotional signs in the company's existing corporate style.
