Mobile solution for KFC

KFC was founded in 1952 by Colonel Harland Sanders, an early developer of the quick service food business and a pioneer of the restaurant franchise concept. Today, there are over 14,000 KFC outlets in more than 80 countries and territories around the world, serving nearly eight million customers a day.

Faced with such a huge deluge of customers daily, mobile PoS has attracted KFC’s interest for its ability to offer an even more efficient service. As Clive Burns, Field Systems Manager for KFC explains, “Mobility is very attractive to the quick-service sector because it provides additional points of service for the customer without the need to create additional lanes or counters. We wanted to investigate a mobile solution which could be introduced at peak times in order to serve more customers, faster.”

KFC piloted a solution consisting of hand-held terminals and Epson’s wireless receipt printer, the TM-P60, at three of its sites – including the busy Alton Towers – and certainly found it met its high expectations.

“Epson’s mobile printer ticks all the boxes – it’s easy-to-use, lightweight and compact. Used in conjunction with a wireless hand-held, it helped facilitate a fast, smooth service on the move,” commented Clive.

Available in both Bluetooth and WiFi versions, the TM-P60 is ideal for the hospitality sector. Equipped with a long-life, eight hour battery it combines high-performance with user-friendly features such as drop-in paper load and partial auto-cutter.

Clive added, “We found the TM-P60 to be very reliable – I’d recommend it to anyone.”
