New inkjet offers quiet receipt printing and 2-colour receipts

Eye-catching promotions have become an increasingly important part of today's point of sale environment. Epson's latest inkjet receipt and cheque printer series (TM-J7000 and 2-colour TM-J7100) has been developed to help retailers implement sophisticated one-to-one marketing initiatives for their customers, through the medium of receipts and coupons.

Capable of producing sharp, high resolution graphics, logos and barcodes, the TM-J7100 model also gives retailers an excellent opportunity to use 2-colour printing (red-black, blue-black and green-black) to reinforce their brand and for customer promotions. With no discernible reduction in speed, the printer can produce permanent, fast-drying 2-colour receipts and coupons, without causing delays at the point of sale. Epson's technical experts are also able to respond to requests from larger retailers for customised colour ink cartridges in order to match their own corporate colours.

The series' other unique feature is its single-insertion cheque-printing mechanism, which enables retailers to print and endorse cheques, without the noise traditionally associated with this process. The cheque-printing function has been designed to be quick and easy for users, in common with the printers' other operational features such as drop-in paper roll, top-loading ink cartridge replacement, auto-cutter, and easy operator access covers.

Altogether, the TM-J7000 series' inkjet technology has all the established benefits of thermal printing - it is quiet, reliable, the fastest in its class at 16 LPS and can produce high-resolution graphics. However it also offers lower running costs as its long-life ink cartridges can print permanently onto ordinary plain or recycled paper.

The TM-J7000 series gives retailers unparalleled flexibility. Besides a choice of 1 or 2-colour printing, three different paper widths and increased font options, the printers have improved connectivity (including a high-speed serial interface) and are compatible with IBM legacy systems. Their space-saving design and cable management system ensures the products will fit easily onto any counter top.
