For even the most dedicated consumer, there comes a point
during every mammoth shopping spree, when the need for refreshment
overcomes the desire to try on the latest fashions. For moments
like these, the larger department stores, such as House of
Fraser, Debenhams and Fenwicks have opened cafés and
restaurants where customers can take a quick break before
rejoining the fray.
One example of this is the Roux Café Restaurants
and Roux Express Coffee Bars, which have been recently established
in branches of House of Fraser such as Dickens and Jones and
DH Evans in London’s West End. Recognising that the
Express Coffee Bars needed to provide a particularly fast
and efficient service for customers, Select Service Partners,
part of the Compass Group, installed a CafePoS point of sale
system from NSB, running on Epson’s powerful Intelligent
Register (IR).
The IR’s intuitive touchscreen interface is ideal for
such quick service catering applications, enabling staff to
enter order information quickly and accurately. This, combined
with the IR’s high performance Intel processor, allows
transactions to be processed quickly and helps to keep customer
waiting times to a minimum. In addition, the terminals’
smart design and built-in cable management prevents accidental
disconnection and ensures that the servery area can be kept
neat and tidy.
“Roux is a stickler for perfection but the feedback
has been very positive,” said NSB’s Hospitality
Business Unit Manager, Nic Wing. “We first became involved
at the start of the restaurant project and we have been able
to adjust our systems quickly to meet the requirements of
the Express Business Units. The touchscreen systems are user-friendly,
require minimal staff training and CafePoS is fully compliant
with the systems used by both Select Service Partners and
House of Fraser.”
