Club Red breaks free with TM-P60

In a bid to enhance service and sales, Club Red – a 25,000 sq ft nightclub in Arkansas, US – has implemented an innovative wireless hospitality system, featuring Epson’s mobile TM-P60 receipt printer.

Located close to the main campus of Arkansas State University, Club Red is a very popular venue. Welcoming around 1,200 members every weekend, 92% of the club’s business occurs between the hours of 11.00pm and 2.00am. Co-owner Jerry Skelton commented: “Since we operate in a college town, we have high employee turnover. We also have a critical window of time when we capture most of our sales, so we need servers to operate efficiently.” In order to maximise food and beverage sales and reduce labour costs, while protecting customers from identity theft, Club Red invested in a user-friendly system which takes the point of sale to the customer.

The wireless system includes Epson’s TM-P60 compact and lightweight mobile receipt printers, Symbol MC50 Enterprise Digital Assistants (EDA) and Digital Dining software from Menusoft. Provided by reseller Professional Ordering Systems, it has been a resounding success. “As the Digital Dining software works seamlessly with the Symbol EDAs and the Epson mobile printers, we had first-time servers up and running within three nights – increasing sales during our busiest hours,” said Jerry. And it also enables the club to reduce labour costs. “As each server can now handle more customers, we estimate that every fourth or fifth server can be eliminated. With the mobile PoS we’ve experienced 18-22% return on investment on labour alone – and that’s not even factoring in increased sales,” he continued.

Robust and easy-to-use, Epson’s thermal TM-P60 offers Club Red fast receipt printing on-the-go. Featuring a long-life eight hour battery for uninterrupted performance, the printers offer the ultimate in convenience and security. “When I invest in a club, my first thought is security – customers feel uneasy when credit cards are taken away to ring up a sale. With Symbol EDAs and Epson mobile printers, the credit card never leaves the customer’s sight,” explained Skelton. “Our customers are tech-savvy, and this technology enhances the club’s reputation. I love being on the cutting edge of technology, and from a business standpoint, I can already see the savings adding up.”
